Happy Birthday to Robert "Bob" Nesta Marley who was born February 6th, 1945. He has influenced the lives of so many people even up to this day. I personally have heard his music as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to his body of work. His music is an inspiration. There have been times when I was on many of my long road trips and felt like I wanted to turn back. But I popped in a Bob Marley CD and not much else mattered. It's scary that music created so long ago actual speaks of what we are seeing now. I will forever be thankful for being able to hear the inspirational pieces that he has created. To Bob Marley, you will be missed but your music lives on... RIP..

Bob Marley Bio

Nesta Robert "Bob" Marley, OM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaican_Order_of_Merit) (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaica) singer-songwriter and musician. He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ska), rocksteady (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocksteady) and reggae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggae) bands The Wailers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wailers_%281963%E2%80%931974_band%29) (1964–1974) and Bob Marley & The Wailers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley_%26_The_Wailers) (1974–1981). Marley remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Jamaica) and the Rastafari movement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rastafari_movement) to a worldwide audience.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#cite_note-0)

Marley's music was heavily influenced by the social issues of his homeland, and he is considered to have given voice to the specific political and cultural nexus of Jamaica.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#cite_note-hall-1) His best-known hits include "I Shot the Sheriff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Shot_the_Sheriff)", "No Woman, No Cry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Woman,_No_Cry)", "Could You Be Loved (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Could_You_Be_Loved)", "Stir It Up (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stir_It_Up)", "Jamming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamming_%28song%29)", "Redemption Song (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redemption_Song)", "One Love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Love_%28Bob_Marley_song%29)" and, together with The Wailers, "Three Little Birds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Little_Birds)",[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#cite_note-EB-2) as well as the posthumous releases "Buffalo Soldier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Soldier_%28song%29)" and "Iron Lion Zion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Lion_Zion)". The compilation album Legend (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_%28Bob_Marley_%26_The_Wailers_album%29) (1984), released three years after his death, is reggae's best-selling album, going ten times Platinum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_recording_sales_certification) (Diamond) in the U.S.,[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#cite_note-3) and selling 20 million copies worldwide.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#cite_note-forbes-Top_Earners_for_2004-4)[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#cite_note-iafrica-Rolling_in_the_money-5)

Yeah, he's a legend. Even though I'm not really into reggae I always appreciated his songs. I think my favorite is Get up Stand up and I shot the sheriff. Eric Clapton did a great version of that song too. I also like some of Ziggy Marley's stuff, I guess Bob kinda lives on in him....
