NYCE1S

It's hard to believe that it's already 14 years since the passing of Christopher Wallace a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G. He was and still is arguably one of the best rappers to have ever done it. Even with only 2 albums under his belt before he died, he has definitely influenced me and so many others in every day life with his music. I remember being in Hot Waxx records on Jamaica Avenue Tuesday September 13th, 1994 @ approximately 4 p.m.. That was the release date of his 1st album (Ready To DIE) and on that day he made a trip to various record stores across the city to promote his work. That was the year that myself and one of my best friends Sheldon started DeeJaying together. We were there at Hot Waxx records to purchase his album.
I was so ecstatic because he actually autographed the record for me and sent a shout out to me. I still have that record to this day amongst my 20+ crates of records that we accumulated over the years. That was a major time in Hip Hop music and I will never forget it. It meant even more to me because I was from where he was from, Bed Stuy Brooklyn. I grew up on Jefferson Avenue between Thompkins and Throop Ave. He lived at 226 St. James Place in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. We lived approximately 2.5 miles away from each other and that was crazy for me because it showed that even though we were in what was considered to be a bad neighborhood where you only would get out if you were in a body bag or were really good at sports, that anything could happen. Christopher Wallace proved that anything was possible. He went on perform and show millions of people what Bed Stuy, Brooklyn was all about.
I remember the Sunday March 9th, 1997 when he passed. I was sick to my stomach. I was listening to Hot 97 and Angie Martinez I believe was the radio host and was updating us on what had happened the night before at that party in Los Angeles, CA. I couldn't believe it when I heard her say that he was gone. The days that followed were really hard on most people in NY that appreciated him. I would like to say Rest In Peace to Christopher A.K.A. The Notorious BIG. He has and will always influence the Nyce1s videos that you see for now and the future. He is what I listen sometimes when I'm putting together various projects. He gives me motivation. Thanks again for the memories and music that will never die.
RIP B.I.G.
